Welcome to Under the Cedars Nature School, where children embark on exciting adventures in the great outdoors! Here, we believe in the power of nature to inspire, educate, and nurture young minds. Through play, hands-on activities, and exploration, kids develop essential life skills while forming a deep connection with the land they call home. Join us in fostering creativity, resilience building opportunities and a lifelong love for nature!

Under the Cedars is a drop-off program for children aged 5 to 10 years old and currently takes place on Fridays from 9am to 2pm in and around Noxon, Montana.

As we wrap up Summer, we are beginning to plan our 25/26 school year with Forest School Fridays! Registration is currently open, but space is limited as we intentionally keep our class sizes small to maximize connection with each other and with nature.  A school calendar will be provided once you've enrolled.

Want to come visit and see if our program is a good fit?

Visits can be scheduled as soon as October 2025. Please contact us if you'd like to schedule a visit!

Part of our mission at Under the Cedars is to cultivate a village of families who help support their children, the program and each other in a positive and loving way. We are a drop off program but like to include parents when possible as guest educators and honored guests at planned functions during our normal seasonal sessions.  We are still in the beginning stages of building this school and your feedback and suggestions are valuable to us and the future of our program.

Parent Testimonial-
"We wholeheartedly recommend Under The Cedars Nature School to any family looking for a truly enriching, nature-based educational experience for their child. The passion, care, and creativity that the staff pours into each day is something truly special. Our child has flourished in ways we never expected socially, emotionally, and intellectually! All thanks to the hands on, outdoor learning environment that encourages curiosity and builds confidence.

The sense of wonder and connection to the natural world that this school fosters is something we wish every child could experience. We often find ourselves wishing Under The Cedars could expand into a full private school that offered year-round education because we would sign up in a heartbeat!

This school is a hidden gem, and we feel so grateful to be part of this incredible community." -Michelle F.
